Okay, go on, I'll bite. What of? It's working government? It's cheaper taxation? It's universal health care? it's better gun control?

My in-laws have had QUITE a few conversations with Canadian citizens concerning the health care system their nation has imposed upon them...... Almost all of them have the same negative reviews......

Cue right wing "grow some balls" replies.

We need to screw immigrants and own assault rifles. That's a fact.

Cheaper taxation??
I'm pretty sure that we are one of the most taxed countries in the world, how do you think our health care is payed?

No health care system is truely perfect. But if the option is to wait a little while to be seen because someone else is in more urgent need or to bankrupt myself because I got into an unfortunate accident and have to go through the added stress on top of my body trying to recouperate. I know the one I'd go for. There is a very special woman to me in Washington state who had to pay a small fortune to be seen by a specialist for her condition (her nasal passage was too narrow and she couldn't breathe properly), and pay for a sleep study and the operation once it was cleared to go ahead. She could of done without the wait while she raised some of the money needed and the stress of paying the rest off.

I'm in the U.K. from what I can make out were pretty much all on a par with each other. I would like to know what the OP thinks Canada is secretly jealous of though.

If a little while is 8 months for a colonoscopy after your GP recommends it because SOMETHING is going on in that area....

Obamacare hasn't even been implemented here yet and I'll be honest, I'm leery. The way health insurance has gone here in the past 10 years only bolsters this feeling.

I don't get the jealous thing either.

As I say. No health care system is truely perfect, but I've never had to wait for longer than I thought was necessary to be seen, yet my step-father was given a very long wait for a gastric bypass. Here in the U.K. our health care sysytem is under a lot of strain from migrants and 'health care tourism' (people taking advantage of the health car system and skipping out on the bill to the tune of what can only be estimated as being between GBP£250,000,000 and 2,000,000,000.

Picture the worst horror stories you've heard concerning your health care system. Multiply by 10 and stir in "If you don't take the coverage; we're fining you."

And that's what I envision here in a few years......

I have a feeling this will all negatively impact my own personal coverage for myself and family that I currently have through my employer which as of NOW I get to keep into my retirement. As it stands my coverage is excellent. PPO plan with zero cost save for the copays which amount to $20 a visit. I hope that it's 75% of what it currently is in 10 years.....

There will be many horror stories, promises, etc... It won't be great at first as things need to bed in, but it's got to be better for all in the long run. Give it a chance.

Canada is jealous of all the attention the U.S. gets – it's better known around the world, has more money, has more affect on the world's culture… We have a bit of a chip on our shoulder up here in the Great White North.

I was taking you seriously for a minute, then I realised you were joking. Nice one. :)
